Service Opportunities
Every year Steubenville of the Rockies brings in many groups from outside the Denver metro area. Sometimes groups come for a week before or after the conference in order to volunteer in service projects around Denver. If your group is interested in volunteering, the following are a few opportunities for service.
Sandwich Line
Contact 303-534-4014 for information on volunteering at the Sandwich Line for the homeless done at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish in Denver. The Sandwich Line takes place on a daily basis. Details are on the website-just follow the "Ministries" link: www.stelizofhungary.org.
Home of Neighborly Service

Nature of Work: Work with low-income children ages 3-13 by providing a fun, safe environment to stay. Need particular help with the aging building—paint and repairs.
Group Specifications: Groups up to 20 people any time of the year.
Project Provides: Usually help to feed anyone helping and can help with sleeping arrangements—either at center or at neighboring churches.
Additional Information: Located just north of downtown Denver, close to urban—close to baseball field and amusement park—and mountain recreation.
Denver Rescue Mission
Denver Rescue Mission/Lawrence Street , home of the landmark "Jesus Saves" cross, is the Mission's flagship ministry and central outreach location. Denver Rescue Mission provides shelter, food, clothing, education, Christian teaching, and work discipline to meet individuals at their physical and spiritual points of need. Every day of the year, the Lawrence Street facility provides a breakfast, lunch, and dinner meal for homeless and hungry people. Contact 303-297-1815 or 303-313-2455 to volunteer. Open 7 days a week. Minimum age varies depending on the shift.
Food Bank of the Rockies
Volunteers must be at least 14 years old, and need to come dressed in clothes appropriate for warehouse work – including close-toed, comfortable shoes. Please call to schedule a time to volunteer. Contact Olive Crawford at 303-371-9250 ext.236.
Samaritan House
Located in downtown Denver, Samaritan House was built in 1986 and specifically designed and constructed for the homeless. It can accommodate over 320 men, women and children each night. There are separate facilities for single men, single women and families with children. Residents receive a bed, food, clothing and various services on site, including case management, medical care, and referrals for employment, social service assistance and educational opportunities. There is an age-appropriate program for teens. Volunteers are always needed and welcomed. For more information or to volunteer, call (303) 294-0241.
Holy Ghost Sandwich Line
Located in downtown Denver, Holy Ghost Church is known for their social ministry to the many people of Denver, including a daily sandwich line. Please contact the social ministry office to arrange volunteer work: 303-297-3441. For more information please visit: www.holyghostchurch.info.
WINN Ministries
WINN Ministries is a Christian Organization whose mission is to provide churches with the resources to meet the spiritual and physical needs of their neighbors.
