Pope Benedict's Lenten Message (back to top)

Pope Benedict XVI's Lenten message for the 2009 season considers the value and meaning of "fasting." Fasting can be a difficult task for even the most devout Catholic. The Holy Father himself wonders, "what value and meaning is there...in depriving ourselves of something that in itself is good and useful for our bodily sustenance?" His words are profound, and can help every Catholic rediscover the beauty of this ancient practice. Read the Holy Father's words. Click here.
