As an
expression of the new evangelization in the Archdiocese of
Denver, Our
Lady of the New Advent Theological Institute
exists to form Christians capable of making a bold proclamation
of faith in God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Through the
formation of each of its members, faculty, staff and students,
the Institute aims at a union of faith and culture and the
building of a civilization of love.
To advance
the new evangelization, the Institute offers programs of study
in philosophy and theology in its three divisions: St. John
Vianney Theological Seminary, the Diaconate Formation Program
and the Division of Lay Formation. Through
St. John
Vianney Theological Seminary,
the Our Lady of the New Advent Institute is affiliated with
the Theology Faculty of the Pontifical Lateran University
and its undergraduate students are enrolled at Regis University
in its B. A. program in philosophy.
While
forming the intellect by offering courses of the highest academic
caliber, all of the programs at Our Lady of the New Advent
Institute, both degree granting and non-degree, seek to form
the whole person into the likeness of Jesus Christ -- and
in a love for His Church and her teaching.

education through Our Lady of the New Advent Institute. It
serves as a consultant to other archdiocesan agencies and
parishes in the preparation of special liturgies. The Office
of Liturgy works in collaboration with the Commission on the
Sacred Liturgy, which is composed of people appointed by the
archbishop from all states of life in the Church.

The library
began with St. Thomas Seminary in 1907 and has grown through
the years to become one of the premier theological libraries
in the country, with a collection of over 130,000 volumes.
The library is named after Urban J. Vehr, archbishop of Denver
for 36 years (1931-1967), who actively promoted the seminary
and library, and left it his substantial personal collection.
In 1956 Archbishop Vehr dedicated new seminary buildings,
matching the old Lombardian style, which now house both the
library and Catholic Pastoral Center.
The Vehr
Library receives nearly 300 current periodicals, with bound
past issues dating back, in some cases, to before 1900. The
bulk of the collection is in Catholic theology, Scripture
study, Church history, and philosophy. The Vehr Library has
also added an audio-visual collection and children's library.
