St. Clare’s seventh-grader wins Eagle County Spelling Bee

Ciera Causey, seventh-grader
at St. Clare of Assisi School in Edwards,
won the Eagle County
Spelling Bee on Jan. 29 at Berry
Creek Middle School in Edwards.
Causey’s win qualified her for a
spot at the Colorado State
Spelling Bee to be held March 15-
16 in Denver. Causey was one of
five students that qualified for
the County Bee following a
school-wide competition at St.
Clare’s on Jan. 22. Additional
qualifiers at the county level included:
eighth-grader Luke Verratti,
seventh-graders Marti
Schmidt and Kendal Sego, and
fifth-grader Mariana Engleby.
