This year’s recipient of the Archbishop Charles J. Chaput Leadership Award at the Archbishop José H. Gomez Awards Gala was Hercules Industries. The company has made a courageous stand for religious liberty by pursuing a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services contraception mandate because it violates their First Amendment rights. The company has won an initial injunction against the mandate. Some 320 people attended the gala held Oct. 3 at the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel. Other honorees included Juan Esquivel of Carbondale, Pastoral Leadership Award, and Jorge Camacho of Denver, Social Justice Award. Delio Tamayo of Aurora was presented the Amistad (Friendship) Award.
