The annual Gospel of Life Conference Oct. 20 at Church of the Risen Christ in Denver will feature leading voice on Catholic teaching on sexuality and bioethics, Janet E. Smith.
“It is really a privilege to have (Smith) come to Denver to speak,” said Lynn Grandon, director of the Respect Life Office for the Denver Archdiocese. “God has gifted her mind to be able to succinctly say what needs to be said on the most profound issues of our time.”
She will give two keynote talks: “The Culture of Life versus The Culture of Death” and “The Right to Privacy,” based on her book of the same name.

Smith is a professor at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detriot and holds the Father Michael J. McGivney Chair of Life Ethics. “This is a can’t-miss event in the archdiocese,” said Grandon, adding that “Contraception: Why Not” had an impact on her own conversion to Catholicism some 10 years ago.

The White Mass acknowledges the efforts of doctors, nurses and all health care providers under the patronage of St. Luke, patron of physicians and surgeons (feast day Oct. 18). All health care professionals and students are invited to the Mass.

There will be opportunity for Q&A with Smith, as well as the chance to purchase her books. The conference will end at 3 p.m.
The cost is $30, if registering by Oct. 16. This includes breakfast and lunch. The cost at the door is $40. Groups of 10 or more will receive $5 off each additional registrant.
