Good advice
Sara Angle’s story “Eating well is the key to aging with grace” (Sept. 12 Denver Catholic Register), is very timely and should be cut out (or printed) and placed near or on the front of every refrigerator—and not just the ones belonging to us old folks. The advice about what nourishment the human body requires should be heeded by all who want to stay healthy and vital throughout their lifetime.
This story comes close on the heels of a resolution I made to cut out all snacks that have no nutritional value and that are 100 percent comfort foods, such as potato chips. Thus I will be making room for more of the beans, fish, veggies, and fruit and so forth that are so highly recommended by the scientific community. I have learned through experience that a healthful diet requires consuming a great deal of food, and I prefer to do so in small meals throughout the day. This allows the food to be digested properly and also permits greater enjoyment and appreciation of the repast—and a pleasant timeout to look forward to several more times a day.
