On Feb. 5, Super Bowl Sunday, more than 100 volunteers gathered at the youth center at St. Thomas More Parish in Centennial to participate in a local Souper Bowl of Caring campaign.
The event, sponsored by the middle school youth ministry, included volunteers from 11 to 65 years old who collected donations of food and cash, while posted at 13 Centennial-area grocery stores.
At the end of the day, more than 6,000 non-perishable food items and $1,000 was donated to Father Woody’s Haven of Hope, Broadway Assistance Center and Northside Assistance Center.
The nationwide program, established some 20 years ago, garnered collections of more than $7 million. In the photo, youth ministry members, from left—Katie Ploch, Brittany Berglund, Jaqi Rollins and Cassandra Spath—collect items at Safeway.
