Machebeuf High celebrates first Advent Family Mass
Faculty, alumni, parents and students of Bishop Machebeuf High School gathered for their inaugural Advent Family Mass Dec. 1 before joining for a spaghetti dinner and Christmas carols.
More than 200 students and their families attended the Mass celebrated by Father Doug Grandon and assisted by Deacon Joe Babish of Risen Christ Church in Denver.
“This year’s Advent Family Mass was a true celebration of the nurturing community that is Bishop Machebeuf High School,” said Principal Jessie Skipwith. “Our families came together in the spirit of communion and celebration of the coming of Jesus Christ.”
During his homily, Father Grandon emphasized the importance of laying a sturdy foundation and fortifying one’s faith in anticipation of Christ’s coming at Christmas.
After Mass, the Bishop Machebeuf Parents Club served dinner and the school choir sang Christmas carols. Families had their photograph taken with a festive backdrop provided by the school’s yearbook staff.
