Student wins school geography bee

Good Shepherd School in Denver held a school level contest of the National Geographic Geography Bee Dec. 16 in the gymnasium.
Two hundred students in grades four to eight participated in the preliminary bee.
The top 10 students completed in the schoolwide bee with an audience of parents and students. The second place winner was eighth-grader Erin Geissler. The school champion, pictured at right with Principal Mary Bartek, was seventh-grader Kassidy Hogan. As the school's representative, Hogan will take a written exam in January with the aim of qualifying for the Colorado Geography Bee, which will be held in the spring at the University of Denver.
