Beverly Carroll, Ph.D., Secretariat of Cultural Diversity in the Church and Rev. Fr. Cyprian Davis, O.S.B., Ph.D., St. Meinard Archabbey saw a need for a provenance and history of black Catholics in American history. Thus began these writings about the African American presence in the USA and in the Catholic Church.
