Letters to Editor: Insult ‘ungentlemanly’ There is a glaring contradiction in George Weigel’s column, “The gentlemanly art of the insult,” (Sept. 6 Denver Catholic Register). His accolades for the clever repartee delivered in the body of the article are undermined by the final anecdote. The retort cited as the piece-de-resistance draws the reader’s eye directly below the belt—not at all a well-placed witticism but a hackneyed quip not considered appropriate in polite society.
