FORT COLLINS – St. Joseph Parish recently announced the addition of Lupe Lemos-Sigward as assistant principal for the parish school, where she will assist Principal Barbara Bullock.
“Lupe Lemos-Sigward enjoys an exemplary reputation as an educator and an active member in the Catholic community,” saidFather Steven Voss, pastor. “This creates a natural relationship with St. Joseph School which has been noted for over 85 years for its high quality of education in the Catholic tradition. Lupe’s presence at St. Joseph School will bring with it many exciting opportunities for our school community.”
A Fort Collins native, Lemos-Sigward spent more than 17 years as a kindergarten through 12th-grade educator in the public PR-1 District, serving in administration, supervision, counseling, mental health and social work. She received a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree and post-master’s administration/principal certificate from Colorado State University. She received additional leadership training from the University of Northern Colorado.
Her family includes husband, Jerry, and daughter, Carissa.
Within the Catholic community, Lemos-Sigward has volunteered as a religious education instructor, participated in World Youth Day, worked with the homeless, coordinated fundraising events, facilitated marriage preparation, served as an extraordinary minister of holy Communion and served as a lector.
She currently serves as a Stephen Minister and coordinator of Grief Ministry at Blessed John XXIII Catholic University Parish, and Holy Family Church, and she volunteers with her family and their pet therapy dog, Charlie, at Poudre Valley Hospital on a weekly basis.
“I feel blessed and honored to begin my work with the students, staff, parents and the St. Joseph community,” Lemos-Sigward said. “God is presenting me with this wonderful opportunity to educate and guide the students of St. Joseph Catholic School in an environment that is conducive with my beliefs, morals and core values.”
Bullock, who has served as school principal for more than 25 years, earlier this year, announced plans to retire at the close of the 2011-2012 school year.
St. Joseph School offers pre-school through eighth-grade.
