In addition to their catechesis classes, confirmation students at St. Thomas More are required to participate in a minimum of eight hours of community service. This year the class gathered stewardship funds from their parish to purchase trees, shrubs, flowers and benches for the Poor Clares’ monastery. They also invited family and fellow parishioners to help revitalize tired spaces on the monastery grounds, create a Marian prayer garden, and repair property damaged through vandalism.
“I am impressed with how hard these students and parents worked,” said Santhe Talley, coordinator of the event.
“They put a lot of effort into the project, and we are all proud of the results.”
“It is beautiful,” said Poor Clare Sister Clara Sandoval, expressing deep gratitude.
The garden transformation provides a beautiful space for the nuns to use daily and for monastery events.
