Jonathan Reyes, CEO and president of Catholic Charities of the Denver Archdiocese, said the grant will ensure that women with children who find themselves without a home, whether through loss of employment or fleeing domestic violence, will receive case management, GED tutoring, counseling, basic necessities, and help in getting jobs and permanent housing.
“Once again, The Catholic Foundation of Northern Colorado has been able to do something rather extraordinary for people in the Archdiocese of Denver,” Reyes said. “Lives are being changed forever thanks to the hard work of The Catholic Foundation and the generous people who choose to use it as a means of giving.”
Through the years Catholic Charities, with more than 30 separate ministries to the poor and needy throughout the archdiocese, has received numerous grants from donor-advised funds of The Catholic Foundation, Reyes said.
Located in Fort Logan, the Father Ed Judy House has been serving women and children since 2005.
“We see so many beautiful success stories at the Father Ed Judy House,” said director Wendy Oldenbrook. “I am honored to know the brave, courageous mothers we serve. I feel fortunate to witness their lives being rebuilt and transformed.”

Founded in 1998 The Catholic Foundation of Northern Colorado is committed to helping individuals and families financially support Catholic missions and ministries. Last year the foundation distributed $6.6 million in grants.
“We take joy in being able to match donors and causes in the Catholic community with full knowledge of both,” said Bud Laber, foundation president. “It allows the use of resources to be targeted completely faithful to the donors’ desires and is efficient because of our knowledge of the Catholic community we serve.”
