Seeds of Hope Charitable Trust gets grant
By John Gleason
The Seeds of Hope Charitable Trust has received a $400,000 matching grant through the Children’s Scholarship Fund Scholarship Program, a spokesman said. The grant awarded to Seeds of Hope this month will be used to fund scholarship awards for the 2011-2012 through 2014-2015 school years to children in kindergarten through eighth grade from low-income families in the Denver area. Launched in May of 2007, this program is a partnership with the Children’s Scholarship Fund, headquartered in New York City.
Seeds of Hope has been a Children’s Scholarship Fund grant recipient since 2007. The original four-year grant began in 2007 and provided funding for 150 students. The number of students assisted increased by 10 percent each year, allowing new students to enter the program. For the 2010-2011 school year, the fourth and final year of the original grant, 200 students received a $2,000 scholarship.
