Golf tournaments to benefit worth causes

Many parishes, schools and other Catholic organizations sponsor golf tournaments for the benefit of a variety of causes. Below are some of the golf tournaments slated in the coming weeks in the Denver Archdiocese.

Presentation of Our Lady
Get ready all you duffers for the second annual Golf Tournament to benefit Presentation of Our Lady School. The day will include food, prizes, fellowship and spirited competition. The tournament will be held Aug. 8 at the Inverness Hotel & Center Golf Course, 200 Inverness Drive West, Englewood. For fees and registration, call 303-669-0591.
Nativity of Our Lord
On Aug. 13 Nativity of Our Lord Parish hosts their fourth annual Golf Tournament for the Rebecca Peterson Memorial Scholarship Fund, which benefits the Pro-Start Culinary Program for gifted students. The tournament will be held at Eagle Trace Golf Club 1200 Clubhouse Drive in Broomfield. Entry fee is $100 per player and includes 18 holes, cart and range balls followed by a steak dinner and awards ceremony immediately after the tournament. Sisters of Loretto
The 16th annual Sisters of Loretto Golf Tournament and Silent Auction at Arrowhead Golf Club is set for Aug. 27. All proceeds benefit the Sisters of Loretto retirement fund. The event, which begins at 6:30 a.m., includes breakfast, green fees, golf cart, range balls, snacks, non-alcoholic beverages, buffet luncheon, silent and live auctions and award presentation. Cost of the tournament is $145 per person ($140 if paid reservation made by Aug. 8); lunch reservations are $15 per person. Sponsorship opportunities are also available. Golf for Hope
The Glenmoor Country Club will be the site for the 2011 Golf for Hope to benefit Seeds of Hope Charitable Trust on Aug. 29. The day begins at 10:30 a.m. with registration and box lunch followed by a shotgun start and concluding with a dinner, awards presentation and auction at 5 p.m. Honorary chair, Auxiliary Bishop James D. Conley, will lead the invocation during the program, and 9News anchor Adele Arakawa will be the mistress of ceremonies. Cost is $1,500 per foursome; $375 individual entry and sponsorship opportunities are available. Glenmoore Country Club is located at 110 Glenmoor Drive in Cherry Hills Village. Holy Family Parish
Mark your calendar for the Holy Family Parish Golf Tournament set for Sept. 10. This year’s event will include a round of 18 holes of golf followed by lunch and awards ceremony at the parish hall. The tournament will be held at Willis Case Golf Course, 4999 Vrain St. in Denver. Call 303-477-0422 for fees and registration information.
St. Stephen School
Registration is underway for the eighth annual St. Stephen School Golf Classic set for Sept. 10 in Glenwood Springs. Entry fee for the event, a fundraiser to benefit educational expenses for the school, is $175 per player or $600 per foursome and includes greens fee, cart and dinner. Registration is at 11 a.m. with the tourney kicking off at noon. Only 23 spaces are available. The Golf Classic will be at Ironbridge Golf Course, 410 Ironbridge Drive in Glenwood Springs. Council of Catholic Women
The Denver Council of Catholic Women will host a golf tournament to honor women of the Archdiocese of Denver Sept. 24 at Willis Case Golf Course, 4999 Vrain St. in Denver.
