Capuchin priest to assist at Notre Dame Parish

Father Charles Polifka, provincial minister of the Capuchin-Franciscan Province of Mid-America, recently announced that Father Gilmary Tallman, present pastor of St. Joseph Parish, Hays, Kan., and former pastor (1986-91) of St. Elizabeth’s Church and St. Patrick’s Church in Denver, will return to Denver as assistant director of postulants at St. Anthony of Padua Friary and part-time associate pastor of Notre Dame Parish.
The pastoral appointment, effective Aug. 1, was confirmed by Archbishop Charles Chaput, O.F.M. Cap., now archbishop-designate of Philadelphia.
Ordained in 1960, Father Tallman served 20 years on the faculty of Thomas More Prep in Hays, Kan., six years as president of the school. Since then he has been a Capuchin formation assistant director for a year, reconciliation minister at The Catholic Center at Citadel Mall in Colorado Springs for two years, and parish priest for 26 years in Victoria, Kan.; Denver; Arnold, Mo.; and Hays.
