Interfaith Galilee Gala draws 280 people

Some 280 people attended the June 8 Galilee Gala at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, which brought together leaders and members of Denver’s diverse faith communities to benefit a pilgrimage center in the Holy Land that is located on the site of a 2,000-year-old synagogue.
Archbishop Charles Chaput, O.F.M. Cap., delivered the invocation. 7News anchor Bertha Lynn emceed the event, which was co-chaired by Dan Caplis and Craig Silverman and raised some $220,000 for the Magdala Center in Galilee.
Legionaries Father Eamon Kelly, representing the Magdala Center, gave the keynote address. Rabbi Richard Rheins of Temple Sinai delivered remarks honoring the Rev. Dr. Jim Ryan of the Colorado Council of Churches, who received the Magdala Center’s first Bridge Building Award for his career efforts fostering inter-religious dialogue and relationships.
