Seeds of Hope award named after religious sister
On Nov. 18, when Seeds of Hope Charitable Trust hosts its annual Evening of Hope Gala, the evening’s festivities will include the presentation of the inaugural Sister LaVonne Award. Named for one of the founders of Seeds of Hope, the award will be presented to an individual who has shown dedication to Catholic education in the Archdiocese of Denver.
Known for her passion in the field of education, Sister LaVonne Guidoni of the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth was called, “a champion of children, especially the neediest,” by Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. A tireless volunteer, she dedicated her life to raising millions of dollars through Seeds of Hope so that any child could receive a quality Catholic education. She also served as development officer at Mount St. Vincent Home in Denver before she died in 2007.
Anyone who wishes to nominate someone they know can do so by obtaining a nomination form online at www.seedsofhopetrust.org. Nominations will be taken through Tuesday, July 5. For more information, call 303-715-3186.
