Catholic school middle-schoolers aid dome repairs
On May 10, students from Sts. Peter and Paul School in Wheat Ridge presented a check in the amount of $1,588.40 from four Catholic schools in northwest Denver to help repair the dome of the state Capitol.
In a letter, the students said, “This is a minor contribution to a costly project, but it is our way of showing that we care.”
The cost to repair the gold dome ranges from $8 million to $12 million.
The middle school students met for a fall summit and determined to donate to the Share In the Care Colorado campaign to benefit the dome restoration.
The students who donated were from the parish schools of Shrine of St. Anne in Arvada, Sts. Peter and Paul, Our Lady of Fatima in Lakewood and Nativity of Our Lord in Broomfield.
