The new chapel at St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood was filled to capacity on June 3 for Mass and dedication by Archbishop Charles Chaput, O.F.M. Cap.
Mass concelebrants included Father Charles Anedo, O.D., of St. Anthony Central Hospital Mission and Ministry; Father Darrell Schaffer, pastor of St. Jude Parish in Lakewood; and Father John Grabrian, pastor of Christ on the Mountain Parish in Lakewood.
Because the new facility seats just 90 people, to accommodate the large number who wanted to witness the liturgy, the Mass was televised so that people working in other parts of both the new and old hospitals could watch.
The chapel is located on the main level of the new hospital, 11600 W. Second Place in Lakewood, and will be open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Masses will be celebrated weekdays at 12:05 p.m., Saturdays at 4 p.m. and Sundays at 9 a.m.
The facility will be available for patients and visitors to use for reflection and silent meditation, according to Lilly.
