Upcoming special collection for tornado, flood relief
To help Southern dioceses recover from recent tornados and floods, the president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has approved a national relief collection.
In the Denver Archdiocese, parishes have been asked to take up a second collection at a date of their choosing but no later than Sunday, June 19.
According to a May 4 letter to U.S. bishops from USCCB President Archbishop Timothy M. Dolan of New York, the funds will be distributed through Catholic Charities USA to “help individuals in need” and also for “rebuilding and repairing any damaged church-owned buildings.”
The faithful are asked to be generous during the parishes’ second collection for the Southern dioceses.
