Endow gala draws record crowd
The annual Endow gala, Evening of Enchantment, drew a record crowd of 430 people to the Grand Hyatt Hotel in downtown Denver the evening of May 7. The evening began at Holy Ghost Church with Mass celebrated by Los Angeles Archbishop José H. Gomez, the former auxiliary bishop of Denver.
The event theme, “At the Service of Life and Love,” was taken from Blessed John Paul II’s “Letter to Women” in which the pontiff exhorts women to embrace their feminine vocation to love.
Guest speaker was Presidential Medal of Freedom winner Gerda Weissmann Klein, a Holocaust survivor and author of “All But My Life.” Klein said the evening was the 66th anniversary of her liberation from years of captivity. She delivered a powerful message about moments where human goodness shines through even in the midst of evil.
Endow (an acronym for Educating on the Nature and Dignity of Women) was founded in 2003 as an educational program for women to explore various topics of Church teaching. Endow relies on trained facilitators to lead small study groups. One facilitator, Jennifer Ricard from Hudson, Ohio, was honored with Endow’s Julia Greeley Award, which is given to women who exemplify the mission to spread the truth about authentic womanhood by word and example.
The benefit event included silent and live auctions.
Organization co-founders Marilyn Coors and Terry Polakovic, executive director, were among the attendees. Learn more about Endow at www.EndowOnline.org.
