Priests mark jubilee anniversaries of 60 and 50 years

This year, several priests serving in the Denver Archdiocese are celebrating jubilee anniversaries.
60 years
Father James Kane
A native of Leadville, Father Kane was ordained on June 2, 1951, in Denver by Archbishop Urban J. Vehr. His first assignment was as assistant at St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Denver. Shortly thereafter, he was transferred to St. Anthony Parish in Sterling where he served in the same capacity for seven years.
Pastoral assignments have taken Father Kane all over Colorado, including St. John in Stoneham and the missions of St. Mary in Grover and St. Joseph in Briggsdale. He also served as pastor at St. Anthony in Sterling, Holy Family in Colorado Springs., St. Pius X in Aurora and Ascension in Denver. He retired in 1994.
Servite Father Gabriel Ramacciotti
A member of the order of the Servants of Mary, the Servites, Father Ramacciotti was ordained in Rome on March 24, 1951. He was assigned as parochial vicar at both Assumption and Holy Trinity parishes in Denver and St. Philip Benizi Parish in Fullerton, Calif.
He also served as pastor of Assumption Parish and Mount Carmel Parish in Denver and outside of his pastoral assignments, he taught at St. Joseph Seminary in St. Charles, Ill., where he was also rector and master of students, and served as professor and rector at Our Lady of Riverside Seminary in Riverside, Calif.
Though retired, he remains active in his community saying Masses at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, including the monthly Italian Masses. He is director of the secular order of Servites in Welby.
50 years
Capuchin Father Blaine Burkey
Father Burkey is a member of the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin. Ordained June 3, 1961, he spent much of his priesthood at Cathedral of the Plains in Victoria, Kan.
He taught at St. Francis Seminary in Victoria as well as St. Thomas More Prep school in Hayes, Kan. Later, Father Burkey served as archivist and director of communications at St. Crispin Friary in St. Louis, Mo. He’s currently the archivist and director of communications for St. Francis Friary in Denver, a position he’s held for almost 30 years.
“A great deal of my ministry has been working with the friars in our province,” he said. “I’ve also always enjoyed my writing and research. It’s provided much satisfaction.”
Servite Father Timothy Kremen
Ordained on June 29, 1961, Father Timothy Kremen is a member of the Servants of Mary order. He taught high school at St. Joseph Minor Seminary in St. Charles, Ill., and St. Philip High School in Chicago.
He has had several assignments as chaplain of a number of hospitals and institutions, including Elgin State Hospital in Elgin, Ill., Presbyterian-St. Luke Hospital in Chicago, St. John Hospital in Detroit, Addolorata Villa in Wheeling, Ill., Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park, Ill., and the East Jersey State Prison in Rahway, N.J.
As pastor, his duties included assignments as associate pastor at St. John Berchmans Parish in Detroit; La Asuncion Parish in Perth Amboy, N.J. and St. Philip Benizi Parish in Fullerton, Calif. He was appointed pastor at Seven Holy Founders in Affton, Mo., and Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Denver. Today, Father Kremen serves as chaplain at Mullen Home in Denver.
