Sister Clare Carr elected prioress of Colorado Springs Benet Hill Monastery
Benedictine Sister Clare Carr was recently elected prioress for Benet Hill Monastery in Colorado Springs. She will be installed in June.
Sister Carr began her vowed monastic life in 1974. She is the oldest of five children and grew up in the Denver area from age 11.
She received a master’s degree in theological studies from St. Meinrad Archabbey in Indiana and a master’s in counseling from the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs.
She has served as director of religious education at Guardian Angels Parish in Denver and as youth director at Our Lady of Fatima School in Lakewood. She has worked at MDS (Maria Droste Services) Counseling Center for the past 10 years.
As prioress, Sister Carr will support and implement the direction statements her Benedictine community recently formed. Other goals include planning for increased housing for the sisters and pursuing ongoing vocation and formation work to increase community membership.
