All Souls School teacher Trudy Jo Miles dies
By Denver Catholic Register
Longtime teacher Trudy Jo Miles, of All Souls School in Englewood, died April 1 after a brief illness. She was 67.
Born Aug. 9, 1943, in Rockport, Ind., Miles was a faculty member at All Souls for 27 years, teaching language arts and literature to middle school students. She also ran the theater workshop and was the school’s speech coach.
Principal William Moore, who knew Miles throughout her career at the school, described his friend as a “phenomenal” educator.
“She was always willing to give more and go that extra mile for any student,” he said. “Our current students fashioned up a little shrine, complete with flowers and a banner that read, ‘We love you Miss Miles and we’ll miss you.’ Former students have been posting all kinds of accolades on Facebook.”
After earning a bachelor’s degree in English from Arkansas State University and a master’s degree in speech and theater from the University of Mississippi, Miles taught in Missouri and Arkansas before coming to Colorado.
A funeral Mass for Miles was held April 7 at All Souls Church followed by burial at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Littleton. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to All Souls School in the name of the Trudy Miles Memorial Fund for Speech and Drama, 4951 S. Pennsylvania St., Englewood, CO 80113.
