Ninevah Journey movement offers prayer, fasting to elect pro-life civic officials Those who would like to make their own personal mission of praying for pro-life elected officials are invited to participate in the Nineveh Journey, 50 days of prayer and fasting, one for each state of the union. The Nineveh Journey, named for the ancient city of Nineveh and whose downfall was foretold in the Old Testament by the prophet Nahum, was started to promote pro-life officials at all levels of government. It is sponsored by the Pro Sanctity Movement, a world-wide organization that, based on Catholic teaching, seeks holiness in everyday life. The prayer journey began on Sept. 6 and runs through Nov. 4, which is Election Day. Each day the Nineveh Journey consists of prayer and fasting for a pro-life president and super-majority in the House and Senate with the following prayer: “God our Father, Creator of all life, You value and love each and every person beyond comprehension. Our society is currently allowing and even promoting the murder of many innocent lives, which belong to You alone. In various ways, great or small, we have all been a part of this destruction of life; we ask Your forgiveness. “Do not abandon us to depravity; we beg You to convert our hearts and turn them back to You. We ask that this conversion be made manifest by the election of a pro-life president and pro-life super-majority in the House and Senate. To this end I offer You my prayers and sufferings of today for the state of (insert name of state), and I unite them to Your Son’s Cross. Praised be Your Name forever.” More information about the Nineveh Journey can be found online at ninevehjourney.org. |
