Mullen Poms participating in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
The J.K. Mullen High School Poms will lead the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City this year in front of millions of spectators. The team will be participating as part of the Spirit of America Dancers made up of high school pom and dance students from across the country.
The 16-member J.K. Mullen team is the only one from Colorado invited to participate in the Spirit of America program for this year’s parade. There are several individual dancers from Colorado who will also be participating.
The Spirit of America dance group will also close the parade and escort Santa Claus as he makes his grand entrance into Herald Square. The invitation to participate in the parade came after the team submitted a video clip of the pom squad.
“The fact that they earned a spot to participate in one of the nation’s most coveted events speaks volumes about our hard work, dedication and camaraderie,” said Poms Coach Ashleigh Deal. “We are so proud to represent Mullen, the Denver area and the whole state of Colorado.”
The parade will be aired live on NBC from 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 25.
