The Saints: St. Catherine LaBoure c. 1806 - 1876 / Feast - Nov. 28
As a postulant of the Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, she had visions of Mary and also a vision of an M with a cross above and two hearts below. The Virgin asked Sister Catherine to have a medal struck according to the vision. Those who wear it with devotion, promised Mary, would receive graces at her intercession. The “miraculous medal,” named for its origin rather than its properties, is still carried or worn by Catholics.
