By Julie Filby
Deacon Francis “Bud” Boselli died Oct. 23 of cancer. He was 84.
Deacon Boselli was born in San Diego and later moved to San Francisco. After graduating high school he acquired a photography company.
He married Betty McLaughlin on July 1, 1950. Together, they reared 12 children: Mary, Thomas, Richard, Elizabeth (Clark), Susan (Student), Donald, James, John, Steve, Sharon (Thomas), Robert and William. In 1974, the family moved to Boulder, Colo.
He was ordained a permanent deacon in the Archdiocese of Denver by Archbishop Francis Stafford on May 25, 1991. Immediately after ordination, he served at St. Martin de Porres Parish in Boulder. In 1999, he took on the responsibilities of parish administrator at St. Rita’s Parish in Nederland where he served as a deacon until he retired in 2005.
Deacon and Betty Boselli celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last summer. The deacon was also proud of his 33 grandchildren.
“As deacons went to see Deacon Bud when he was ill, they left his house reflecting on his upbeat and cheerful disposition and the wonderful family that supported him during his final days,” said Deacon Joe Donohoe, director of deacon personnel for the archdiocese.
A rosary was said for Deacon Boselli at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Boulder Oct. 26. A funeral Mass was said there the next day. Interment was held at Sacred Heart of Mary Cemetery in Boulder.
