RAD retreats for high school men set
High school-aged men who are considering the priesthood are invited to participate in one of two free RAD (Radical Awareness of Discipleship) retreats sponsored by the Archdiocesan Office of Priestly Vocations.
The retreats, to be held 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 10 and Nov. 7, offer an opportunity for young men to contemplate God’s call and share the experience with like-minded individuals, according to Father Jim Crisman, Vocations Office director who will conduct the retreat.
The day will include Mass and time for contemplative prayer.
“There will be time for exercise, meals and for just hanging out,” Father Crisman said. “We’ll also have discussions with seminarians who will talk about their vocation and experience at the seminary, and question and answer sessions with a bishop.”
Auxiliary Bishop James D. Conley will participate in the October retreat while Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap., is scheduled to participate at the November retreat.
Father Crisman said that, based on past retreats, the RAD day provides a perspective for young men about religious life they can’t get anywhere else.
“It gives them somewhat of a direct experience of seminary life,” he said.
The RAD retreats will be held at St John Vianney Theological Seminary, 1300 S. Steele St., Denver. To register, or for more information, call 303-282-3429 or e-mail Info@Priest4Christ.com or visit www.priest4christ.com.
