Serrans to host appreciation day for religious sisters
The Serra Club of Denver’s annual Religious Sisters Appreciation Day is set for April 10 at Church of the Risen Christ, 3060 S. Monaco Parkway.
Each year, the Serra Club’s goal is to offer the most enjoyable social event of the year for the many religious sisters and members of religious communities of the Archdiocese of Denver, organizers said.
“Last year, because of the adverse nature of the economy, for the first time, instead of gift certificates, many cash prizes were given to the attending sisters, and in spite of the economy we were able to give more in gifts, certificates and prizes than in any previous year,” said Jim Hilger, event chair.
The day will begin at 11 a.m., with Mass and liturgy, followed by a social hour, luncheon, gifts and drawings.
More than 260 invitations are being mailed and all religious sisters and members of religious communities of the archdiocese are welcome. Due to the popularity of the event, advance reservations are required.
Denver Serrans welcome all gifts and donations from the public for the religious sisters. Checks should be made out to: Serra Club of Denver (a subsidiary of Serra International, a 501c3 tax-free organization). They may be mailed to: Serra Club of Denver, Attn: Dick Switzer, treasurer, 7654 S. Race St. Littleton, CO 80122.
Attendees are asked to R.S.V.P. to Hilger at 303-850-7548 or at hilgerjrjr@msn.com, or to Bill Egan, bill@eganprinting.com.
