Archbishop blesses Catholic Charities’ chapel
On the evening of March 5 Archbishop Charles Chaput, O.F.M. Cap., celebrated Mass and blessed the St. Elizabeth of Hungary Chapel at the administrative offices of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Denver.
The archbishop installed the holy Eucharist in the chapel’s new tabernacle and lit the sanctuary lamp, signifying the continual presence of the Lord.“It is a great blessing to have a private chapel located in the heart of our building at 4045 Pecos St. in Denver,” said Jonathan Reyes, president and CEO of Catholic Charities. “As Christ is the heart of our work, it is fitting that we have a beautiful chapel in which to celebrate Mass, reserve the Eucharist, and proclaim the mystery of faith as we serve our neighbors, as Christ has called us so to do.”
St. Elizabeth of Hungary is patroness of Catholic Charities. The 13th century saint lived with great austerity and worked continually in service to the poor, the sick and the homeless. Following in her example, Catholic Charities extends the healing ministry of Jesus Christ to the poor and those in need.
