April 18, 2012 - The United States has a vested interest in comprehensive immigration reform, which recognizes the need for security, the dignity of the human person and the sovereignty of the family.

April 4, 2012 - Coloradoans are currently collecting signatures to place a 'personhood' amendment to the Colorado constitution on the November 2012 ballot. This letter is intended to explain why the Catholic Bishops of Colorado - individually and as members of the Colorado Catholic Conference - are not participating in gathering signatures for this ballot initiative.

March 28, 2012 - The Palm Sunday liturgy is the only Mass of the year at which the lay faithful are invited to join the priest or deacon in proclaiming the Gospel. Our participation in the Palm Sunday Mass is an invitation.  It is an invitation to be present and active during Holy Week and the sacred triduum of Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday.

March 14, 2012 - Many bishops in the United States are asking Catholics to fast for an end to religious perseution, on Friday, March 30.  I will be fasting that day.  I invite you to join me.

Feb. 15, 2012 - Last week I traveled to Massachusetts to formally accept a seminarian as a candidate for ordination to the diaconate and priesthood in the Archdiocese of Denver.  The seminarian, Ron Cattany, is an extraordinary man and has become a good friend.

Jan. 25, 2012 (This article was reprinted by the Denver Post on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012)  - On Fri., Jan. 20, 2012, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced that most religious institutions – including Catholic hospitals, schools and social service agencies – would not be exempted from a federal government requirement that employee health plans must provide free contraceptives. The announcement was a death knell for religious liberty in the United States.
