Hahn gets Servant of the Word Award
On Feb. 12, Catholic apologist-author Scott Hahn received the Servant of the Word Award from the Denver Catholic Biblical School for his work in promoting Scripture study among Catholics.
Hahn is a professor of theology and Scripture at Franciscan University of Steubenville, where he founded and directs the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology. The event, which took place at St. Mark Parish in Westminster, started with a Mass.
Archbishop Charles Chaput, O.F.M. Cap., served as the principal celebrant; five other priests concelebrated the liturgy. At the banquet and silent auction, the archbishop addressed the 300 in attendance, saying not a week goes by that he doesn’t consult something that Hahn has written as he prepares a talk or homily.
The next day, 635 people attended Hahn’s daylong workshop titled “The Letter and the Spirit: The Relationship between the Bible and the Liturgy” held at St. Thomas More Parish in Centennial. “The Biblical School would like to thank all those who made these events such a success,” said Ben Akers, director of the Biblical School.
