Retreats, lectures offered throughout the Lent season

Chancery to offer sacred art exhibit depicting Paschal Mystery.
Beginning Thursday, March 11 and running through the Easter holiday, the John Paul II Center for the New Evangelization will host a special art exhibit, featuring depictions of the Paschal Mystery, from crucifixion to Pentecost.

Lenten Days of Recollection
Discover the richness of the Lenten season as you prepare for Easter at one of these prayerful afternoons of recollection held at the Abbey of St. Walburga in Virginia Dale. The retreats go from 9:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m. The dates and themes are: March 6, “Remain in Me as I Remain in You”; March 20, “Guest and Host, Welcoming Christ.” The abbey is located 35 miles north of Fort Collins on U.S. Highway 287. Spiritual Journey
The Carmelite Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart of Los Angeles will hold a Lenten retreat, “A Spiritual Journey,” from 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Feb. 10. The retreat, which includes lunch, will be held at their convent, 4040 Pierce St., Wheat Ridge. Call 303-422-6419 or visit www.carmelitesistersocd.com
Lenten lecture series
A series of Lenten talks titled, “Vices in our world and the virtues needed to combat them: Guiding your kids toward goodness,” is being offered at Holy Family High School. Parents are invited to attend these lectures by Principal Tim Gallic and theology teachers David Good and Peter Galmish. The remaining lectures are set for 7 p.m. – 8 p.m. on March 4, 11, 17 and 31 at the school, 5195 W. 144th Ave. in Broomfield.
Stations of the Cross
Beginning Feb. 19 and running through to Holy Week, Stations of the Cross will be recited at noon and again at 6:30 p.m. at Holy Ghost Church, 1900 California St., Denver. The evening service will include vespers in the church followed by a soup supper in the parish hall. Call 303-292-1556.
Lenten play
“The Way of the Cross,” a presentation of the passion and death of Jesus, will be performed by the Franciscan Mystery Players at churches in the metro area during Lent. All performances begin at 7:30 p.m. except for the first one at St. Joan which begins at 7 p.m. Call the parishes for more information. The schedule of the performances is as follows:
