Local doctor named Physician of the Year at Porter Adventist Hospital
Porter Adventist Hospital recognized Michael Metros, M.D. with its first annual Physician of the Year Award, presented for demonstrating clinical excellence, teamwork and compassion.
Metros is a parishioner at Mother of God Church in Denver and an alumnus of Catholic schools—graduating from J.K. Mullen High School in 1979 and Most Precious Blood in 1975. He is board-certified in internal medicine and serves as medical director of the Palliative Care Program at Porter.
At the Nov.4 award presentation, Dr. Dianne McCallister, chief medical officer, said Metros exhibits the values that mirror those of the hospital including imagination, stewardship, integrity, spirituality and respect.
“(Dr. Metros) has done great work, both recognized and behind the scenes, to create a patient-centric environment,” she said.
Metros is an active member of the community and an advocate for fellow primary care physicians.
“It meant a lot to me that my colleagues appreciate the work I do,” Metros said. “I receive amazing support from the hospital and staff.”
Porter Adventist Hospital was founded in 1930 to “extend the healing ministry of Christ by caring for those who are ill and by nurturing the health of the people in our communities.”
