Tea to benefit modesty program draws 100
Some 100 women and teen girls attended the “Hair, Halos and Hats” high tea held the afternoon of Jan. 16 at Risen Christ Parish to benefit Pure Fashion, a Catholic organization created for high school girls to promote modesty and the true dignity of women.
Knights of Columbus Council 13301 Ladies Auxiliary of Risen Christ played host to the event in the church’s Emmaus Center. Guest speaker was Beverly Chico, a history professor at Regis University and Metro State College, who gave an entertaining presentation on the history of hats. Live classical music was performed by mother and daughter Denise and Lauren Crooks.
“Young women of today are the Catholic mothers and leaders of the future,” said ladies auxiliary president Irene Schroeder. “Pure Fashion is a way to help form them in Catholic teaching to be the women God created them to be.”
In attendance were Sallie Hurley, Pure Fashion Denver director, and Elizabeth Wisniewski, spiritual coordinator for Pure Fashion. There to serve the tea were a number of current Pure Fashion models.
