Although the placement of both the Archdiocese and Archbishop’s logos will vary depending on the context within which it is used, it is important to note that because the weight of the crest on the left is not balanced symmetrically in the overall structure, designers must beware of an unbalanced arrangement of elements within a design that includes the logos. In other words, the logos tend to be “heavier” on the left than on the right, and when designed in conjunction with other type or visual elements, this asymmetry must be a factor when considering placement.
In general, most pre-established promotional or office materials, such as letterhead, business cards and promotional folders, require that the logo be centered. Then, any type that may appear underneath the logo should be centered within the width of the text of the logo. The red markings below illustrate an example of this relationship.
