July 19, 2011 - Pope Benedict XVI has named Archbishop Charles J. Chaput O.F.M., Cap. as the 13th Bishop and 9th Archbishop of Philadelphia. May 18, 2011 - This year's Archbishop's Catholic Appeal, aims to raise $8.6 million to support some 40 ministries in the Denver Archdiocese. Money raised by the appeal educates and inspires the faithful through ministries such as the Office of Catholic schools, Colorado Catholic Conference, and the Catholic Biblical and Catechetical schools.

March 2, 2011 - Senate Bill 172 will get its first hearing in the Colorado Senate Judiciary Committee next week on March 7.  Senate Bill 172 seeks to legalize civil unions.  It would explicitly grant such unions the same status as marriage in the law.

March 1, 2011 - Most Rev. Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap., Archbishop of Denver, addressed the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace and World Affairs at Georgetown University on Tuesday. Recognizing the religious persecution of Christian minorities that is happening in countries outside the United States today, he urges listeners to do their part in safeguarding the American experiment in religious freedom, which Chaput claims is, itself, under threat. He discusses four key points for personal reflection, each of which emerged from experiences during his years as Commissioner with the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF).

Feb. 24, 2011 - We now live in an increasingly secular country.  American culture often seems “Christian” on the surface.  And in many ways, it still is.  But it’s also more and more unfriendly to Catholic belief in its laws and political life. We need to form a new generation of Catholic believers who will be missionaries and leaders; men and women who are on fire for Jesus Christ and have the courage to prove it with their own suffering; men and women who aren’t afraid to preach the truth of the Catholic faith wherever God leads them -- including in the public square.

Jan. 26, 2011 - Coptic Christians belong to a very ancient branch of Christianity.  Unlike Christians in the West, their liturgical year derives from a blend of the ancient Egyptian and Julian calendars.  As a result, the Coptic celebration of Christmas occurs on Jan. 7, not Dec. 25.

Jan. 3, 2011 - In April of 2010, Archbishop Charles Chaput removed the priestly faculties of Father Mel Thompson, placed him on administrative leave and made the necessary report to civil authorities. After seven months of intense investigation, the Archdiocese of Denver's Conduct Response Team has have unanimously concluded that the allegation against Father Thompson is not supported by the evidence they reviewed.
