School’s play host to fall festivals and sundry fundraisers
As the academic year begins, the Catholic schools of northern Colorado look forward not only to working with students, but to the necessary tradition known as fundraising. From selling wrapping paper to sponsoring galas, the schools invite parents, friends and alumni to support Catholic education by taking part in the many activities that benefit the schools. Below is a list of some of the upcoming fundraising events. For detailed information on any of the events, call the number provided.
All Souls, Englewood

The annual Reverse Raffle will be held from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Oct.16. The evening includes dinner, entertainment and live auction. Cost is $50 for dinner, $50 for each raffle ticket.

The Annual Fall Fiesta will be held Oct. 3 at the school. Fiesta includes games, delicious food and a raffle featuring a $500 cash prize.

Along with community businesses the school will be hosting Welby Days from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept 19. Activities include vendor booths, children’s booths, a combination Flea Market/Farmers Market and demonstrations by the fire department.

The annual October Blessed, the annual fall party will feature beverages, grilled items and fellowship on Sept. 27.
Bishop Machebeuf High School/303-344-0082
The annual 5K Family Fun Run will be held on Sept. 20 at the school. All ages and abilities are welcome. More information on the event is available by calling the school office.

A live and silent auction will be the centerpiece of the annual Fall Fest on Nov 6. Music, hors d’oeuvres and a raffle will round out the event.

Find anything and everything you can imagine at the annual Tag Sale, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 12.

The public is invited to the annual all-community fun run to be held at the school on Sept. 7. A kid’s run (The Tiger Tail) will be held as well. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and all participants will receive a free t-shirt. Also on the calendar is the annual Christmas tree and wreath sale which begins Nov. 2.

In addition to the chocolate bar sale, which begins on Sept. 4, the annual school auction is slated for Nov. 14.

No school year at Loyola would be complete without the annual pie sale. Students will be taking orders later this month with delivery set for shortly thereafter.

Although their big fundraiser won’t take place until much later in the year, the students are already at work selling magazine subscriptions.
Nativity of Our Lord, Broomfield/303-466-4177
The students will be calling friends and family as they begin the annual rite of selling entertainment books (also known as E-books). Meantime, a festive gala to benefit school and parish is slated for February.

On Oct. 2, the annual Fall Festival will get underway. The day-long event includes family entertainment, carnival with game booths, food, raffle, auctioning of gift baskets and a chili cook off.

Currently selling World’s Finest chocolate bars, the school is looking forward to the Sundancer Gala on Oct. 24, a benefit for the school that includes a dance and auction.

Everyone is invited to a night of fun at the annual October Fair Spooktacular. The family friendly evening includes games, food and fun for all ages.

A favorite with the sweet tooth of every parent, chocolate bar sales will get underway this week, but parishioners are also looking forward to the craft fair that will be held on Oct. 3.

It’s a taste of Italy at this year’s Italian Festival Nov. 7 featuring Italian food, a fun run, booths, games, music and dancing. Students will be on hand taking orders for Christmas trees as well.

Students will be out it force looking for all those who enjoy reading as the annual magazine subscription drive is now underway.

Fundraisers at the school are keeping busy as several things are showing up on the calendar, including a wine tasting event, assembling a cookbook featuring recipes of parishioners and parents and, in October, a Halloween carnival.

On Nov. 7 the school will be hosting the annual Spirit 2009, featuring delicious food, beverages and entertainment as well as both silent and live auctions. The event will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Tickets are $50 per person. More information is available by calling the school office.

It promises to be a fun-filled event this year as the public is invited to attend the annual Fall Jamboree Oct. 18. The event will feature children’s carnival, silent auction and spaghetti dinner so come hungry.

People interested in saving a dollar or two should be on the lookout for students from St. Louis who will be selling Gold C books, which feature deals on restaurants, entertainment and travel.

The children’s carnival, which is part of the annual fall festival; a big helping of fun and games for the kids coming up in November; games and excitement as money is raised for the school.

Sept. 20 is the date of the 2009 Harvest Festival, which begins with an alumni Mass. Come be part of the carnival or try your luck at some of the games. A cake walk and duck pond will also be featured as well as a band, bingo and hay rides.

A yard sale is set for Sept. 12. There will be lots to choose from so don’t miss it. And on Nov. 11, the school will be hosting a Fabulous 50s dinner dance, which will include a silent auction.

Students will be looking for anyone wishing to sponsor them in the annual Fall Lap Day. Taking pledges, the students then earn money for the school by running laps. Family, friends, businesses and alumni are encouraged to be part of this event.

For the duffers, a golf tournament has been scheduled for Sept.12 but the children will get their chance as well on Sept 26 as the school’s annual Wild West Festival gets under way. Food, fun and games, including the all exciting mutton busting competition.

The MANE event, the annual fundraiser, will be held Nov. 14 at the school. Celebration includes a silent and live auction, dinner and raffle. Those who wish to attend are urged to call the school early and make a reservation.

The Fall Festival will be held Sept. 19 from noon to 10 p.m. at the school. They’ll have a chili cook off, a pig roast, games and prizes, hay rides, pie judging contest, climbing wall and lots more.
