OFFICE OF LITURGY
Time of Easter Vigil
After consultation with the twilight chart for Denver and taking into account other pastoral considerations:
On April 3, 2010, the Easter Vigil should not begin before 8:00 p.m. With its emphasis on vigil and light," the entire celebration of the Easter Vigil takes place at night. It should not begin before nightfall; it should end before daybreak on Sunday" (Sacramentary, "The Easter Vigil"#3).
Sunset on April 3, 2010 is 7:25 p.m. The earliest appropriate time for scheduling the Easter Vigil on April 11, 2009 is 8:00 p.m.
We hope this early information assists you as you plan for the great feast of Holy Saturday and the Easter Season.
