Events, liturgies celebrate Year of St. Paul
Liturgies and activities commemorating the Year of St. Paul are taking place across the Denver Archdiocese. Some are listed below. For others, call your parish, check future issues of the Denver Catholic Register, or visit the Year of St. Paul link at archden.org.
‘Last Journey of Paul’ retreat
“Last Journey of Paul,” a Lenten retreat, will be held at Loretto Spirituality Center, 4000 S. Wadsworth Blvd. Participants will reflect on the Acts of the Apostles and the Second Letter to Timothy with Sister Macrina Scott, O.S.F. Cost for the Feb. 25-27 retreat is $185 for overnight, $100 for commuters. Call the Wisdom Center at Most Precious Blood Parish, 303-756-5628, for registration information.
‘Apostle to the Gentiles’ lecture series
Get to know the Apostle to the Gentiles at St. Anthony of Padua Church during their monthly St. Paul lectures. Each evening consists of Adoration, Benediction, lecture and refreshments. The lectures, which begin at 6:30 p.m., will be held on March 3, April 7, May 5 and June 2. St. Anthony Church is located a 3801 W. Ohio Ave., Denver. Call 303-935-2431 for more information.
Six-week Bible study on the Book of Romans
In celebration of the Year of St. Paul, St. Rose of Lima Holy Name Society invites all to a six-week Bible study on the Book of Romans. The study will be held Monday evenings beginning March 2 at 7 p.m. in the Rose Room at the church, 355 S. Navajo St. in Denver. To sign up, call 303-778-7673.
‘Moments of Conversion’ Lenten mission
Sts. Peter and Paul Parish in Wheat Ridge will be hosting a Year of St. Paul “Moments of Conversion” Lenten mission March 11, 12 and 13. Mass will be held at 8 a.m. each day with the mission talk at 8:30 a.m. and again at 7 p.m. Stations of the Cross will be prayed at 7 p.m. on March 13. ‘St. Paul and the Law’ two-part lecture
St. James Church at 1311 Oneida St. in Denver will host a two-lecture series titled, “St. Paul and the Law” March 2 and 16. The lectures, which begin at 7 p.m. in the parish hall, will be delivered by Father Federico M. Colautti, professor of sacred Scripture and vice rector at Redemptoris Mater Archdiocesan Missionary Seminary. Babysitting will be provided. Call 303-322-7449 for more information.
Corinthians workshop
Tim Gray and Ted Sri of the Augustine Institute, president and provost of the school respectively, will be conducting a workshop on 1 Corinthians, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. March 21 at St. Mark Church, 3141 W. 96th Ave., Westminster. The workshop will show how the struggles of the early Christians were similar to our struggles today. Cost: $65, which includes workbook and lunch. Registration deadline: March 14.
