History: The Archdiocese of Denver's televised "Mass for Shut-Ins" began broadcasting in 1966, and currently airs every Sunday morning. It is produced by the Archdiocese of Denver’s Office of Communications.
An estimated 20,000 households tune into the “Mass for Shut-Ins” each week. Included in this number are retirement communities, nursing homes and other group living situations, all of which account for a high number of individual watches.
A word from Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. “For many of Colorado’s elderly, homebound and physically ailing, the broadcast of the 'Mass for Shut-Ins' is one of their week’s greatest joys.
Through this ministry, the Archdiocese of Denver seeks to provide the spiritual nourishment and community that they would otherwise lack, given their inability to physically attend Mass.”
