Catholics work to oppose FOCA and related pro-abortion policies
The U.S. bishops are mobilizing the nation’s Catholic community to oppose the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) and other threats to current pro-life laws. In upcoming weeks, parishes throughout Colorado will participate in a postcard campaign urging Congress to uphold current pro-life laws and to stop new abortion-friendly bills or policy changes.
Parishioners are encouraged to find out who their legislators are by visiting the Colorado Catholic Conference Web site, cocatholicconference.org, and clicking on the To Find Your Legislator link, which will aid the faithful in filling out the Fight FOCA postcard they will receive at their parish.
“Legislators pay attention to these postcards,” said Mimi Eckstein, director of the archdiocesan Respect Life Office. “The postcard campaign stopped FOCA in 1993. It was extremely successful.”
