About the Director

James Cavanagh is the Director of Evangelization & Catechesis for the Archdiocese of Denver.
He has a B.A. in Religious Studies from California State University and a Masters of Divinity from the Church Divinity School of the Pacific in Berkeley.
James was a cradle Episcopalian and ordained an Episcopalian priest in 1988. He served that church for 17 years before becoming Catholic.
He served parishes in California, Montana and Wisconsin. His last assignment before entering the Catholic Church was chaplain to the University of Colorado at Boulder.

He was received into the Catholic Church and confirmed by Archbishop Chaput December 20, 2005. James is married to Caroline. They have one grown daughter, Madia.
Caroline and Madia entered the Catholic Church in 2004.
James writes a commentary of the Sunday readings called "Breaking Open the Word" which appears in the Denver Catholic Register each week. He has also recently started a blog called Announcing the Gospel at http://announcingthegospel.blogspot.com/.
