Annual diocesan collection for retired and infirm priests set Dec. 6-7
The annual Retired and Infirm Priests Collection will be taken up during Masses the weekend of Dec. 6-7. In a recent letter, Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap., asked the people of the Archdiocese of Denver to continue to support those who have supported them for so many years.
Many retired priests continue to serve in parishes throughout the archdiocese, the archbishop said, and expressed his gratitude for their continuing service even in retirement years.
In retirement, many retired priests face the challenges of advanced age and failing health. Contributions to this fund ensure that their financial needs are covered and enable these priests to continue their ministry in a variety of pastoral settings.
The archbishop concluded his letter by saying he is grateful for the generosity that is shown in support of the parishes and archdiocesan programs.
“We all count on your continued support to this special collection for our infirm and retired priests,” he said.
