May 16, 2012 - The Vatican recently confirmed the “Rite for the Blessing of a Child in the Womb.” The Denver Archdiocese printed 12,000 cards, in English and Spanish, with the prayer for the rite. The cover image on the prayer card is the “Visitation of Mary to St. Elizabeth” painted by Eduard von Steinle in the 19th century. The prayer cards are being distributed this week.

May 10, 2012 - The Colorado Catholic Conference, on behalf of the Catholic bishops of Colorado, expresses great disappointment in Governor Hickenlooper’s decision to mandate a special session of the Colorado State Legislature in order to vote on the issue of civil unions.

Ask them to VOTE TO OPPOSE Senate Bill 12-02 which would establish civil unions in Colorado.

The key flaw with civil union legislation is that it creates an alternative parallel structure to marriage. Traditional marriage is the cornerstone of our society that exists for the benefit of children and the protection of women.

April 16, 2012 - The U.S. bishops have issued a "call to action" to defend religious liberty. They urge laity to work to protect the First Freedom of the Bill of Rights.

They outlined their position in “Our First, Most Cherished Freedom,” published April 12 in English and Spanish.

April 10, 2012 - Senate Memorial 003 (SM 003) will memorialize Congress to enact the “Respect for Rights of Conscience Act” (H.R. 1179 and S. 1467) and will urge the President of the United States to protect religious liberty.  SM 003 passed the Senate Veterans, & Military Affairs Committee on Mon., March 27; it is currently waiting to be heard on the Senate Floor.
