Capuchin Friars partner with Denver Broncos for Brown Robe Benefit
Ninth annual fundraiser scheduled Sept. 20
The ninth annual Brown Robe Benefit to support the Capuchin Franciscan Friars and the Denver Broncos Charities Fund will be held Sept. 20 at the Hyatt Regency Denver, Denver Friends of the Friars announced.
The event will feature silent and live auctions, dinner and entertainment.
For the eighth consecutive year, Denver Broncos owners Pat and Annabel Bowlen will serve as honorary chairs of the gala. Mistress of ceremonies will be Adele Arakawa, KUSA-Television's 9NEWS anchorwoman.
The Capuchin Friars are a community of religious men who live and work in the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi. They dedicate their lives to caring for the poor, the sick, the elderly, the homeless, the forgotten and those in conflict. Local projects include counseling prisoners in correctional institutions, leadership of the Samaritan House, ministry to Front Range migrant farm workers, and work with inner-city poor and needy of all ages.
The Denver Broncos Charities Fund is a fund of the Robert R. McCormick Tribune Foundation, which matches a portion of the revenue raised by this event. The Denver Broncos Charities Fund supports programs designed to influence youth positively in the areas of education and youth football, with a particular emphasis on programs for disadvantaged and at-risk young people. The fund will also consider organizations that have programs devoted to health and alleviating hunger, including special programs for the physically or mentally challenged.
Major sponsors of the Brown Robe Benefit include The Denver Post, Braconier Plumbing & Heating Co. and United Airlines. Other sponsors are being offered in categories ranging from $1,500 to $25,000. For information about the event or to have names added to the mailing list for invitations, contact Nancy Stalf at 303-433-0296.
